TUI Flight Delay and Cancellation Compensation

What TUI says about compensation for delayed and cancelled flights: when you can claim, the amounts, how to claim and what to do if it refuses.

TUI says you can claim for a flight delayed over three hours using its flight delay claim form, and recommends claiming direct rather than through a compensation company. Consumer Protection UK is independent and is not connected to TUI. This page sets out what TUI itself says on its official page, checked on 4 October 2026.

Short answer: the usual UK261 amounts are £220 (up to 1,500 km), £350 (1,500 to 3,500 km) and, over 3,500 km, £260 (3 to 4 hours late) or £520 (4 hours or more), unless extraordinary circumstances applied (Civil Aviation Authority figures, rules last checked 7 October 2026). Claim from TUI first. The time limit to claim is 6 years in England and Wales and 5 in Scotland.

When TUI Says You Can Claim

  • Delayed more than 3 hours (not every such delay is eligible).

Amounts

Flight distanceTUI
1,500 km or less£220 (€250)
1,500 to 3,500 km£350 (€400)
Over 3,500 km£520 (€600) if 4 hours or more late, or £260 (€300) if delayed 3 to 4 hours

TUI says there is no compensation where extraordinary circumstances (such as severe weather or air traffic control strikes) caused the delay and it took all reasonable measures to reduce it. It says only TUI Airways flights (those with TOM, OR, BY or BLX flight numbers) qualify; on other airlines you must claim from that airline.

Help While You Wait

  • It says it provides refreshment vouchers (the amount varies with the delay and time of day) and, for overnight delays, accommodation, meals (not alcohol) and transport.
  • It says it sends SMS or email updates during a delay, and rearranges transfers for package holiday customers.

How to Claim

TUI says to submit the flight delay claim form on its website and that processing typically takes 14 days, although it can take longer at peak times.

Time limit: TUI’s page does not state one. The legal time limit is 6 years in England and Wales and 5 in Scotland (Civil Aviation Authority).

If It Refuses
