Refunds, notice and minimum terms
New customers can cancel within 14 days without an early disconnection fee under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, though you may pay for service used. Cancelling inside the minimum term (typically 24 months) can trigger an Early Disconnection Fee covering remaining months and equipment costs.

How to Cancel

  1. Go to Virgin Media's 'leaving' help page and contact them to say you want to cancel
  2. Give 30 days' notice (not needed if you are switching to another provider)
  3. Ask what any early disconnection fee will be before you confirm
  4. Check your closing bill and return equipment as instructed

Useful to Know

  • Save any emails within 90 days as access ends after disconnection
  • Finishing your minimum term means no early disconnection fee

Your Rights, Whoever the Company Is

  • If you signed up online or by phone, you normally have a 14-day cancellation period (with exceptions, for example where you have already started using digital content).
  • If you were charged after a free trial and the renewal or price was not made clear, ask for a refund and say so in writing. Your card provider can help if the company will not.
  • You can ask your bank to stop a card or Direct Debit payment you have cancelled. Keep your cancellation proof.
  • If you subscribed through Apple, Google or another app store, you must cancel there, not with the company.

Free letters: cancel and stop payments, free trial turned into paid, cancel a gym membership.
